"I'm running because I want to." Stupid dog, why was it following her? Kayla bit her lip and pushed the guy she'd knocked down in front of her a little bit. "It looks like the dog likes you," she stated. "So throw a stick or something and make it go away." There was a slight breeze, it rustled her hair and the leaves in the trees. Looking around the pregnant lady seemed to be fine, the guy that was helping her was puking, and everyone else, she wasn't really paying attention to. A splashing noise caught her attention and she turned her crystalline gaze to the water, where some guy was crawling out of the water.
Maybe this was something she could help with. Years of being a lifeguard would definitely help, for something at least. Jogging over to the guy, avoiding dead people and moaning bodies she walked over and looked down at him. "You okay?" Kayla asked, watching him worriedly. She could be selfish, but then she could be nice. This was one of those times when she had decided if karma really did exist, she'd be screwed, so why not do some good things and get on Gods good side? If there even was a God out there, supposedly watching over them.
What if we're not saved? What if we all die on this island? What if...? The negative questions were back and they hit hard. It was like someone had dropped a boulder into her stomach, something suddenly felt like it was weighing her down. She wanted to sit, but stood anyways. Kayla hugged her arms around her chest and waited for the guy to answer. Her eyes went back to the blonde guy and the dog, he reminded her of her friend Toby. Kayla almost smiled.

-- As Brendon lay in the sand, his clothes very slowly drying, he took a few deep breathes to clear his head. He took a glance at his surroundings and noted the injured and dead people, which caused him to gag once more. Brendon's not the best person for handling death, if he is asked to do anything to do with dead bodies he tends to...throw up. And he knows that from experiance.
-- He suddenly saw a shadow in the sand and he looked up to see a teenager, simelar to his age looking down at him. He heard her ask him if he was alright. He nodded slowly and unsurely. "Physically, Yes. Mentally...a little shook up. Thanks for asking" He informed her as he rose to his feet. A sudden discomforting feeling swept over him as the cold and wetness of his clothes pressed against his skin, and it caused him to shiver.
-- Brendon was still trying to figure out what exactley had happened, and what he knew so far was that the plane had crashed. Whatever gave him that idea...And the one thing that his mind was focussed on now was helping other people. So he turned to the girl next to him. "Is there...anything I can do to help?" He asked as his eyes glanced to the nearest dead body. And then to a dog. Strange...how did a dog get on a plane...

As Drew's eyes opened and grew accustomed to the bright sunlight, he immediately knew something was not right. Seeing large palm trees, hearing the waves of what was undoubtedly the ocean, the smell of the salty ocean, people's murmurs conversations, hinted with fear and uneasiness; it didn't exactly take a rocket scientist to figure this out, however. Sitting up quickly, the memories of his flight came rushing back to him all at once.
He had been sitting in first class, drinking several small bottles of vodka--the plastic vodka bottles were so tiny that even a three year old couldn't get drunk off them--he had been trying to focus his attentions on the latest paperwork he'd received from his second-in-command at Linsey Enterprises; something to take his mind off the flight. He had always disliked flying. Having to sit around with nothing to do; the seats were so small for his large frame.
Then it the memory of the flight attendant over the PA system and the descent into the blue and the turbulence--Drew stopped himself short before he could continue with his thoughts. Rubbing his hand against his short brown hair, he felt a warm semi-hard liquid ooze in between his short bangs. Bringing his palm down to where he could see it--blood--he pressed his palm harder into his head to stop the bleeding. No doubt he would have gash. Great. 'Billionaire Baby Missing. Feared for dead.' he thought to himself, reading a fake headline of what the papers would print whenever he didn't return home back to New York City in the morning.
Getting up slowly, feeling dizzy, he walked to where he heard people's voices. He didn't recognize any of them, and saw several people crowded around someone. Oh dear God ... he thought, thinking of the worst. "C-can I help?" he asked no one in particular.

she stammered, unsure of what to do, of what she could do. She needed a doctor, but no one here could help her, surely. "Oh God, God, oh..." It hurt everytime she moved an inch.[/ul]

-- Just after managing to hold down the contents of his stomach, again, Brendon noticed another guy looking lost and asking out loud if he could help. Brendon had asked the same thing, but time was ticking and people were probably dieing. So instead he decided on just helping wherever he thought he could.
-- And so Brendon began walking, quite fast at that, down the beach searching for injured people. He stumbled in the sand as he walked. Looking back he noticed he'd tripped over a dead person's leg. Stomach heaving yet again, he pulled himself up and kept on going. Until he saw a woman close to his age, trying to sit up and failing. So he guessed he'd try and help there.
-- Brendon didn't necessarily rush, rushing looked stupid, but he got to the woman as quick as he could. He bent his knees so he was at her height. "Hiya. Now, I'm not a doctor, but I watch Scrubs, ER the whole thing" he joked, which he sometimes did when nervous "Sorry about that. Um...it looks like you have a broken arm, so I wouldn't try putting any weight on it. It might need a cast, but I really can't see how one could be made". He looked around, for a material to make a temporary arm sling out of and couldn't see one that wasn't on a corpse. So he turned back to the woman.
-- He thought quickly about what to do, and suddenly thought of an idea. Not a very good one, but a simple one. "Do you want me to help you up? I promise I won't touch your bad arm and make it worse" he offered the woman. "I'm Brendon by the way. I'd shake your hand but..." another example of how nervous he was by the plane crash.

When the dog came running over to him, Edward smiled and patted it's head. "Hey there, poochie." He rubbed it's ears and then watched the brunette girl run over, after some guy. Maybe she knew him. Either way it was her problem now. He turned his attention back to the dog and grinned once again. "How did a dog end up on a plane?" He joked, knowing the dog couldn't actually respond to him. But talking to an animal was better than talking to nothing.
The girl seemed to be alone now, standing in the sand. And he didn't really have anything better to do. "C'mon dog." Edward patted his leg, hoping the dog would follow. It would be good to have someone guarding your back, even if that someone was a dog. Swiftly jogging over to the girl he nearly tripped numerous times. "You okay?" He asked awkwardly once he reached her, not really knowing what else to ask. But it was obvious she wasn't okay. None of them were, they had been in a plane crash!
Waiting for her reply, he started studying her. Curly brown hair, aqua blue eyes, gorgeous face and body. Maybe she'd be a catch. After all, there were only a certain amount of girls on the island. Hopefully they'd be rescued and he could be on his way, but for now, Edward was looking at his options. But what if her personality was a drag? He sighed and looked back for the dog.

All they had on the island the defend themselves were whatever they could find on the ground that looked like it could be used to defend themselves and their own fists, as far as Jack knew. There were no swords, guns, or bows and arrows. If they couldn't make due with what they had, they were in trouble. Pointy rocks and a good left hook seemed to be the weapons of choice. "Nah, I thought about bringing it, but security would have detained me," He replied sarcastically to Caroline's comment about having a sword.
He chuckled to himself when he realized he had actually made the girl think he would send her in there without anything else to help her. "Of course I'm going. I'm not sending you into a dark forest with a little pebble. We'll go together," He told her. With that, he took a few steps into the forest, then turned around. He looked at what was still going on at the beach, then he looked at Caroline, waiting for her.

She wanted to tell him it was okay that he said the wrong thing, that she said the wrong thing plenty of times and had usually been forgiven for it. The words got caught in her throat, however, and she just continued to look at him stupidly. In normal circumstances, she would have at least thought of something nice to say, but right now she was a bit preoccupied. Realizing that he might take her "no" as a decline in his offer to help her up, she shook her head rapidly. "I-I mean, I don't mean no like that," she said helplessly, stammering over her words. "I just..." She just what? She just nothing. "I mean, yes. Yes, could you help me up?" The sentences were jolting and she fought back tears from the pain in her arm, but they were still English and she was proud of the accomplishment. "Please." It never hurt to be polite. "I'm, um, I'm Braelyn." She hoped he heard her the first time because she didn't think she could repeat herself. [/ul]

R.J. couldn't remember every little detail of what happened prior to the fateful crash of Oceanic Flight 407. He remembered that the food on the plane was terrible, most notably. And the bathroom had been occupied when he had attempted to use it. But other than that? Not much. Hell, considering he had gotten a snack tray thrown right into his head, he was lucky enough to remember his name.
A disoriented blinking of eyes from underneath an unbolted and overturned seat gave notice that he was alive. Slowly, with some cracking of bones and muscles that had been bent into a ball for hours, the seat was pushed off, revealing the twenty-year-old underneath. A bit of blood had dried on the top of his forehead, the dark red scabbing hiding the injury underneath. The same blood had spackled on his Superman logo t-shirt, in addition to his blue jean cargo pants.
"Anybody catch the flight number of that giant freaking plane that crashed into my forehead?" As he stood up, the new arrival took a look around, noting how disheveled things were. "...uh...bad joke, huh?"

-- Brendon had paid attention to the confused, and disoriented, look on her face and he thought that she probably hadn't heard his first words. That might have been for the best. Out of the corner of his eye Brendon saw a man appearing from under a pile of chairs. He also heard the joke afterwords, not shamed to admit it made him grin.
-- He could understand why this woman was stammering, if he'd been in her situation he would have stammered too. "Okay. On the count of three I'll help you up. Okay, One...Two...Three." he said and on the count of three he used her good arm to pull her to her feet. It might have hurt a little bit, but it was probably better for her to be on her feet rather than on the ground.
-- As he checked to see if he'd injured her other arm, he smiled slightly. "Sorry if that hurt, but If you'd try to do it yourself it would have hurt a lot more, believe me." he said as he nodded. "Nice to meet you Braelyn. Well...as nice as it can be under the circumstances." he said, wondering if that came out wrong.

( CAROLINE CHAPMAN )"H eh, of course. It's not like a weapon'll fall out of the sky or anything. All that's on this empty island is rocks, really .." Caroline sighed. "It's not like anybody was prepared for a plane crash. Nobody was." She took a step further into the forest and gazed into the darkness. She saw trees, and rocks, and grass .. some more rocks, some plants .. some more trees .. it just repeated. Not much to be scared of, Caroline assured herself. She tossed the rock between her hands again, studying it. Just a normal ol' rock with a kinda-pointy end.A s soon as Caroline heard that she wasn't going into the forest by herself, she was still greatly relieved. Now that she was on this mysterious, unknown, and dangerous island, Caroline wasn't planning on going or being anywhere alone for now. "Phew, thank you. I don't think I'd survive in there by myself." She looked into the depths of shadows again, shivering. Caroline took a few deep breaths, closing her eyes while doing so, and warming her arms with friction. "Okay, I'm ready. Let's go .." Although her words said she was ready, inside she would never be ready. The forest was completely unknown, and Caroline was scared of the unknown, so she would never go if she didn't have to. But, of course, she did have to. Food, water, and shelter would not be found on the beach, no matter how much she may love it. She slowly took some steps forward, then sped up to catch up with Jack to go into the forest.

Adam sat obediently as the man scratched his ears, closing his eyes and panting. It felt good… He was slightly disappointed when the man stopped, and said, “C’mon dog.” He followed behind, pleased that the man seemed to like him so much that he wanted Adam to stick with him. Little did he know Adam wasn’t really a dog.
So he followed behind him, sitting beside him as the new man stopped. The island wasn’t so bad so far. He looked up at the woman Edward had spoke to: she was pretty, he had to admit, but he was still, currently, a dog. He listened as the woman stuttered, tilting his head, confused. Why was she so nervous? Maybe the plane crash had knocked her around a bit. After all, they had all just witnessed and been in a plane crash. Yet everyone was walking around normally? Very odd. A miracle. More than a miracle.
Adam looked briefly up at the man, whom he was already starting to call his owner. His tail wagged and his tongue lolled out as he panted. His soft, odd gaze returned to the stuttering woman.

she said breathlessly. As soon as she was upright, however, the blood rushed to her head and she felt extremely dizzy. Braelyn stumbled and backed into another stranger. Bumping her arm, she cried out in pain and then used her arm to grasp onto Brendon's shoulder. "Sorry," she mumbled, feeling tears of pain well up in her eyes. She didn't want to be here anymore, around the smoke and the crowds of people. Braelyn closed her eyes, suddenly feeling exhausted, and rested her forhead against Brendon's chest. In her current disoriented state, she didn't care that she clinging to a complete stranger, and he probably wanted her to get off right this instant. At the moment, she just want to get away from all of this. "Can-can we go?" she stammered, again, her words slurring together slightly. "Please? I need to get away from here."[/ul]

-- When Brendon hea Braelyn laugh weakly at his joke, he knew it was to make him feel less uncomfortable, and he didn't mind that. As the smoke from the plane hit his lungs, he coughed quite badly and his eyes watered a bit. He wiped his eyes and continued to focus on helping Braelyn.
-- He had noticed the wince that Braelyn had done as he pulled her up, and his first thought was that he'd accidently knocked her arm or something. But at least she was now standing, even though now he had to find some sort of cast. A few hundred thoughts shot through his head. If it wasn't treated then it'd get infected and the probably didn't have any medicen for that, it might get too infected and turn green...but that probably wouldn't happen. But just to be sure he had to find something for her to support her arm on.
-- As Brendon glanced aound for something matieral wise. But alas, nothing to be found. Well he could always use his shirt...yes that'd do. Brendon pulled off his shirt and just to clarify things he told Braelyn "I'm going to use my shirt, sleeves, and whatever to make a cast for your arm. It'll hopefully make it less painful. I just need something sharp to cut it on.". Brendon now looked around for something to cut his shirt on...there was the edge of one of the plane chairs...that'd have to do. He walked about five steps to the chair and pierced his shirt with it, cutting into the sleeve of it. He then ripped the sleeve off, and did the same to the other, from the elbow. He somehow managed to make a makeshift cast out of it. Brendon had no idea how, but as long as it worked. He tied his ripped sleeves together as he walked back to Braelyn, pulling the remains of his shirt on.
-- Hoping that his makeshift arm sling would work he began to wondor...how do you put them on? "Probably not the best thing to hear...do you know how to put an arm sling on?" He asked awkwardly. As he heard Braelyn cry out in pain and sort of semi-fall he went to grab her from hitting the floor when her other hand gripped his shoulder. A little sore, but nothing too serious. "You okay?" he asked concerned, as he heard her apolagise.
-- Feeling Braelyn rest her head against his chest, he almost blushed, but then he understood that the smoke was getting to her. "Yeah of course. Let's go further up the beach. Nice view there." he said as he helped her walk up the beach a bit, away from the plane and the smoke and the corpses. It was all still in view, but less obvious. Brendon sat down in the sand, coughing, because of all the smoke. He hoped it hadn't afected either of them too much.

Kate was standing on the water egde looking out into the ocean. She couldn't beleive that she had actually survived that crash. She remembered it perfectly. When the tail end ripped off. How she was trying to save the Marshall's life. Even though he was the one she had been running from for an extremly long time. Kate came back to reality. She had been one of many survivors of a horrific plane crash. That was something that was too much to be true. Kate started to sink in the sand as the water came over her feet. She deicded to move. She walked back a fair few steps and then sat down. Still staring out into the ocean. It was only hours ago that she was sitting in the airport handcuffed and beating the Marshall senseless for not remembered Tom's name. Of course though it felt like days, weeks ago. Civilization had long gone.
Kate looked up and saw a man carting a woman down the beach slightly. She looked extremly shook up. Her arm also looked broken. That couldn't be a good thing. Kate decided to go over and help them. She walked up to the quickly and stopped infront of them. "Are you guys ok. Do you need help with anything?" Kate asked. Her voice full of concern. The girl did not look to good in the slightest. Kate turned to look at the man who seemed to be carrying her. Kate was sure she had seen him on the plane, he was sitting not to far away from her.
