Personality: Edward takes criticism very well, or doesn’t take it at all. Meaning he either takes it to heart and tries to change, or all-out ignores the comment. If it isn’t worth taking to heart, it’s not worth getting bothered over. He likes to trust people, but is of the opinion that very few people can be trusted fully. Once he trusts someone, though, he trusts them completely. However, if that trust is violated, it’s all but impossible to gain it again. He is a firm believer in his own type of “fool me once, fool me twice” ideology, and if he thinks someone’s giving him BS, he won’t hesitate to call them out on it. If emotion is involved, he can act impulsively and sometimes makes decisions a bit quicker than he ought to, and most of the time, those choices are not really the right ones. His reckless nature has gotten him into trouble more than a few times when people he loves are involved.

Edward grew up in a busy home. His mother was a lawyer. And his father was off running some large company. Mostly he spent time with his numerous nanny's. They were nice and even though a lot of them didn't speak English very well, they were fun to play tag and hide-and-go-seek with. The only problem was Edward's mother hated for him to love anyone more than her, so whenever she saw that he became attached to one of them, they'd be fired. Soon enough he learned not to show affection for his caretakers.

Max got everything he wanted, because his mother felt guilty for not spending enough time with him. His father was a different story. James neither loved, nor hated Edward. He needed a son to take over his legacy, but dealing with kid-problems was not his idea of fun. So he stayed at work for long hours, rarely seeing Edward or his wife. That didn't bother the boy that much until Gwen died when he was 13 and his father told him that Gwen had just been a dirty, no-good whore. Edward hit his father. His father hit him back. That was the end of that.

Edwatf ran. The second he turned sixteen, he ran. Away from his father and Gwen's death. He vowed to start a new life. Become a new person. Well, not really become a new person. He would always be Max James Vanderburge, but he could change his ways. First things first, he needed to get out of the city, Del Norte, California was perfect. He had heard they had sex and smoky air down there. Various things became roadblocks in his way. His mother's death became one of them.
When he heard about it he had no option but to return home. After spending two years there and finishing High School, Edward went down to Australia. The last thing his father said to him was, "A person always bleeds, Edward. The sun always rises. Whatever you're running from, here, will find you there."
