"Dylan?!" It had been ten minutes and Samirah didn't know why her brother wasn't answering. Where could he be? He wasn't among the lifeless, dead people who never survived the crash, that mean he had to be somewhere around here. She was sure of it. It had only been a day since the crash and she had been talked to by a lot of people, though she only talked to a few. She still hadn't found her doll so she didn't sleep much during the night. Her doll had been made for her by her mother before she died, she slept with it every night, she couldn't if she didn't have her doll.
But the doll wasn't as important to her as her brother, she needed her brother. She stepped over a tree branch and looked around the forest. The forest was a little intimidating, it was darker then the beach. There were eerie noises from the animals and it was a little colder than the beach.
She hugged the large sweatshirt to her. One of the survivors had gotten it for her when night came. It wasn't like Orlando or Sydney. The nights were colder, mostly because they were by the shore and the water spraying at them made things worse. The scenery was pretty though.
She turned around and frowned. She was lost. She didn't know where she was in the forest. She started to move in one direction, not aware that she was going the wrong way to return to the beach.

"No, mono! I told you, no eating on the job!" Liam scolded his new pet monkey. They'd been inseperable since the coconut incident. "Hey! Mono, where are you going??" he shouted, chasing after the young monkey. Liam stumbled a few times and even ran into a tree branch once. Great. A big ole black and blue bruise will be there tomorrow.
Liam lunged for the monkey and let his body slide across the forest floor. Finally, he caught the monkey by the tail and then wrapped his hands around its body. "No, mono! You can't just run of--" Liam peered up through his lashes and noticed a little blonde girl. He gathered the monkey in his arms and got up off of the ground. "Umm, hello," he said awkwardly. "I'm Liam. Are you lost?"

Samirah spun around quickly and backed up until she hit at tree. Her eyes widened as she stared at the guy and his monkey. She thought the monkey was cute, but the fear kept her from going over to them. She kept silent, though he wasn't a total stranger. He was one of the survivors, she had seen him on the beach. He usually hung around this one teenage girl.
I need to go back to the beach. Should I talk? She bit her bottom lip and she wrung her hands together, trying to think. "I don't know where I am..." She mumbled so low that it wasn't audible to the human ear. It just came out as jiberish.

"Huh? Look, I think you are lost. You don't have to speak to me, it's okay. I was actually just heading back to the beach with some bananas. Mono here, was trying to steal a few for himself. Sneaky monkey," he said, rubbing the monkey's fuzzy head. "He's still a baby really. You can hold him if you'd like, until we get to the beach. All you have to do is call him. I haven't quite mastered that, maybe you could help me," he smiled.
Liam lifted the bunches of bananas onto his shoulders while mono climbed onto his head. "Today's menu...bananas. Tomorrow's....bananas....how about next months? Bananas. We have way too many. But food is food." Liam kept up the conversation. He couldn't stand the awkward silence.

Samirah looked in the direction she was going and shook her head before turning back to Liam. "I was finding my brother." She said, this time louder so he could hear. She didn't want to go back to the beach until she found Dylan. She took a step forward then paused before slowly walking over to the monkey. She reached out a hand to touch the monkey when it slapped her hand gently, making her pull her hand back to her chest and take four steps back.
The monkey didn't hurt her but it scared her. She wasn't used to monkeys except for seeing them at the zoo when her brother took her.

"Mono, be nice. Sorry....I just found the little monkey the other day. Atleast I think I did...the days are already meshing together. I um...really think you should come back with us. We'll get you some food and rest. Then tomorrow we'll go back into the forest and look for your brother, alright?" Liam knelt down infront of the girl and asked, "How old is your brother anyway?"

Samirah had to count in her head until she reached Dylan's age. She wasn't good at math and she struggled when counting simple problems. Remembering them was so difficult for her and the preschool teacher didn't stop to help her unless they were doing their worksheets. "He's twenty three." She still spoke in a soft voice, still not sure if she should trust Liam.
When she processed the first thing Liam said she stepped back. "I want to find him now. I lost my dollie and I can't sleep without Dylan or my dollie." She pulled at the sleeves of her sweatshirt, nervous and scared. What was she suppose to do if she couldn't find her brother? She liked some of the people on the beach but she didn't want to live with them, she wanted Dylan.
A small breeze swept through the thick trees and blew her braids a little to the side. One of the women on the beach did her hair. They were probably worried as her.

"We can't do anything when the sun goes down. This forest will be filled with dangerous creatures. You're brother is strong yes? He's old enough to take care of himself. I promise, we'll wake up as soon as the sun rises and we'll go and look for him. If you keep wandering around in the jungle, you'll get yourself lost or worse, killed. What if Dylan finds the camp, and learns about your death? How do you think he'd feel?" Liam didn't want to scare her, but had to change her mind somehow.
"The night won't be long. Come back with Mono and I. We'll get you some food and maybe we'll even find that doll of yours," he smiled.
